Newest to my collection
I bought a new large cork board for my next giant collage, which will mainly feature my bottle cap collection. I finally got my last shipment of bottle caps, and I really really like them. They're bottle caps of a Canadian beer, I forget the name of the beer, but I want to say Lobster Keith's or Michael Keith's Lobster beer, and they're white caps with a gold star burst with a bright red lonbster on it. They look great! Yesterday, while walking to a garage sale, or rather walking back from one, I found a beer bottle cap I didn't already have, I think it's called Amber Brock, and it's white and blue with a horses head on it. It was in pretty good condition, too, no scratches or bends in it. It was just a little dirty on the inside. It made me wonder, how do bottle caps end up in the places I find them. I found this one right at the base of a telephone pole. There was no garbage in site, and no bars.

I Even DREAM about bottle caps, GOOD GRAVY
Exerpt from my dream journal

I was collecting bottle caps again, in this dream. I would find them on the ground, and many of them were so interesting. There was one that had a releif peice of art on it (that is, raised art on a flat background) and the bottle cap was otherwise just gold colored. I come into a little cafe like place and sit down. I notice there are two bottle caps just sitting on a table top. For some reason, although they have been left there, and no one is coming back for them, I hesitate to just take them off the table. For some reason I wait until a server comes up to throw them away. Just as I am about to ask, a woman at another table, who is sitting with her boy friend there, asks if she may have the bottle caps, and the server says "sure" and then puts them down on the table. I try to take them as I say to her, "I asked for them first!" She seems unhappy, but doesn't try to take the bottle caps. I immediately feel guilty, because I realise that although I had MEANT to ask the server if I could have the bottle caps, I didn't
actually ask him, but I was not inclined to admit it, and thought about giving up the bottle caps, because although they were really nice ones, I thought I didn't deserve them, and that I would certainly get another chance at getting one. I did notice, though, that the girl already had one of the same bottle caps made into a necklace, and she was wearing it. The cap features a black and red griffin on a bright yellow back ground, there were more design elements, but I forget what they were. The other bottle
was also very interesting, and was in full color, and featutures some sort of coat of arms ona black background, with regal lions on either side of a sheild.

Bottle caps in the mail and the hunt for Sardine can keys
Today I got one of my orders that I won on ebay, a collection of 65 mint unused bottle caps, some with cork lining, and some newer ones with the modern plastic molding on the inside of the cap. This would be the first time I actually shelled out money for bottle caps, and the first time I have seen unused bottle caps. I like these, but I think from now on I will lean towards used bottle caps. I'm not partial to the skirt-like effect on the unused bottle caps. There were a few brands I had heard of before in this mostly antique collection of bottle caps. I need to get a new cork board to display them on. I show off my collection by super-glueing a push pin into the inside of the bottle cap and then pressing them into the cork board. I am still expecting my other two orders. Thankfully, the other bottle caps are used ones.

I found a red dog double sided beer bottle cap in good condition that I willing to trade if anyone wants to. I am also likely to trade some of my new mint condition ones. They're all soda pop bottle caps, no beer bottle caps.

I tried the Oriental Market for my search for sardine can keys, but there was no luck there. They do have a lot of interesting food packages, though. I also saw two bottles with the crown bottle caps I like to collect, one was for a malt (non-alchoholic) beverage, and another was for a orange flavor soft drink. I didn't look at that one, but I might go back and buy one just for the bottle cap. I will drink the orange soda, though.

I told my boss how I have been looking for cans of sardines with the key, and he said I should try the Italian market. I think I will look into that later this week.

My boss is also a collector of odds and ends, specially he collects pens, everything else, too, but he makes an real effort to collect pens. He and his son came by my house last weekend to pick up the mirror I wanted to get rid of, and I showed off my shadow boxes. Miguel took pictures of them. I saw the photos today. They look great. I will post them when he gives me copies. He said he wants to make an enlargement of the shadow box made from the moveable type-set drawer and make it into a poster for the shop.

Hello to anyone whose come here. As you can see, by the one single entry, this is a brand new community. Please feel free to post as often as you like and share stories about your collection. You do not HAVE to trade bottle caps here, but it is encouraged. By trading, we meant you look at other what other people offer and they look at what you offer, and you settle a way to swap your bottle caps, or other colletible. Other unusal collectibles can be pretty much anything, postage stamps, pull tabs, bubble gum wrappers, ball point pens, cigar boxes or whatever. You may post links to sites you think would be of interest to collectors, including links to your own web-site where you might sell bottle caps. I would prefer there be no selling in this community, only trading, but that is ultimately up to individuals. I mean this community to be a forum for collectors to swap their collectibles and share stories, or provide tips to finding collectibles. I want to keep entries relevant. I don't want to regulate this community, but if things get flamey I will change that and delete entries.

I am a collector, and that is why I created this community.

If you're posting pictures, keep them small enough to fit on the screen without people having to scroll around to see the whole image. If it's too big, people with slower computers (like my own) take too long to download the image.
